Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Recordwell website, applications and services (the "Service"), operated by Recordwell ("we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Recordwell is — and is not

Recordwell aggregates information from publicly available sources and licensed data providers and uses automated tools to organize it into a readable report. Recordwell is an informational tool only.

Not an identity theft protection service. Recordwell does not monitor credit files, does not scan closed or criminal marketplaces, does not provide identity restoration or recovery, and does not offer insurance or reimbursement of any kind. The Service does not offer identity monitoring or alerting of any kind.
United States only. The Service covers United States public records and is offered to customers in the United States. We make no claim of coverage outside the United States and do not market the Service elsewhere.
Not a Consumer Reporting Agency. Recordwell is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq., "FCRA"), and the information we provide is not a consumer report. You may not use the Service, in whole or in part, to make decisions about a person's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, or any other purpose covered by the FCRA or equivalent state law.

2. Permitted and prohibited uses

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You will not use information from the Service to:

We may suspend or terminate access for any suspected misuse, without notice.

3. Accounts, beta, and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for activity under your account. During beta, features may change, be limited, or be discontinued at any time.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Paid plans renew automatically each month at the price displayed before you pay, until you cancel. The price, the billing period and the fact of automatic renewal are shown on the payment screen before any charge is authorised.

Free trial. The trial lasts 7 days, requires no payment card, and ends without charge. We do not convert a trial into a paid subscription automatically — a subscription starts only when you enter payment details yourself.

Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your account in one click. Cancellation is immediate, stops all future charges, and your access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for. We do not require you to call, email, or speak to anyone to cancel.

Refunds. If you were charged in error, or you cancel within 48 hours of a renewal you did not intend, contact support@recordwell.online and we will refund that charge. Beyond that, charges for a period already served are non-refundable unless required by law.

On your statement. Charges appear as RECORDWELL.ONLINE. If you do not recognise a charge, contact us before disputing it — we can usually resolve it the same day.

Prices and features may change with at least 30 days' notice by email; a price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

5. Accuracy and no warranty

Public-source data is often incomplete, out of date, or attributed to the wrong person (for example, different people who share a name). Recordwell does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any report. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Recordwell and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any decision made in reliance on the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $100.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, its software, design, and content (excluding third-party and public-source data) are owned by Recordwell and protected by law. You may not copy, scrape, resell, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission.

8. Third-party sources

Reports may link to or reference third-party websites and data providers. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content or practices.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

10. Governing law and contact

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Recordwell is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Questions or notices: legal@recordwell.online.
